Cooperatives in Higher eductaion
At the 74th UVCF General Meeting at Kabale University on 17th February 2025, Mr. Leonard Okello, CEO of The Uhuru Institute, discussed integrating cooperatives in higher education. He highlighted their role in resource sharing, financial sustainability, and institutional collaboration. Cooperatives, he noted, foster economic resilience and community-driven development. This initiative aligns with the existing MoU between UVCF and The Uhuru Institute, reinforcing efforts to incorporate cooperative models into university operations for long-term sustainability.

Dr. Fredrick Kiwuwa Lugya’s presentation, Libraries as Academic & Scientific Pillars of Higher Education, highlighted the transformative role of academic libraries in knowledge creation, research, and innovation. He emphasized recognizing librarians as academic staff, acknowledging their contribution to teaching, research support, and digital scholarship.
