The Uganda Vice Chancellors’ Forum (UVCF) held its 76th General Meeting on 11th August 2025, at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) – Kihumuro Campus, bringing together leaders from higher education institutions to deliberate on key issues shaping the sector.
The meeting was graced by Commissioners from the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES), who made presentations on new policies, regulations, and strategic directions to guide the future of higher education in Uganda.
Discussions focused on:

Bridging the Gap Between Education and Employment – aligning academic programs with industry needs.

Impact of the TVET Act 2025 – implications for universities and degree-awarding institutions.

Status of the Uganda National Qualifications Framework (UNQF) – updates on implementation and quality standards by MoES.

UVCF 76th Meeting Programme – priority agenda items for 2025.
Remarks were delivered by Prof. Pauline Byakika-Kibwika (Vice Chancellor, MUST), Prof. Eriabu Lugujjo (Executive Director, UVCF), and Prof. Paul Waako (Chairperson, UVCF).
The Forum reaffirmed its commitment to advancing quality, relevance, and competitiveness in Uganda’s higher education through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and informed policy engagement.
