UVCF Leadership Engages at Bishop Stuart University’s 21st Graduation

The Executive Director of the Uganda Vice Chancellors’ Forum (UVCF), together with the Secretariat, was honoured to attend the 21st Graduation Ceremony of Bishop Stuart University on Tuesday, October 24th, 2023.

The ceremony was graced by the Guest of Honour, Her Excellency the Vice President of the Republic of Uganda, Jessica Alupo, who represented and delivered the message of His Excellency the President, Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

The graduation was  presided over by the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Mugisha and the event was held under the powerful and forward-thinking theme: “Transforming Higher Education through Science, Technology, and AI-Driven Innovations for Community Impact.”

A total of 1,660 students graduated, marking a significant milestone for the institution. The cohort comprised 866 male and 794 female graduates, demonstrating a strong commitment to gender-inclusive education. The event also celebrated the achievements of 134 Masters graduates and 2 Postgraduate PhDs, highlighting the university’s growing capacity in advanced research and higher learning.

The UVCF’s presence at the ceremony underscores its ongoing commitment to engaging with member institutions and staying abreast of the evolving landscape of Ugandan higher education. The graduation theme resonates deeply with the UVCF’s strategic focus on promoting educational excellence, innovation, and the role of universities as drivers of sustainable national development.

“The theme of this graduation, ‘Transforming Higher Education through Science, Technology, and AI-Driven Innovations for Community Impact,’ is a clear blueprint for the future we are building together,” said the UVCF Executive Director. “We commend Bishop Stuart University for its leadership and thank the Vice President for her reaffirmation of the government’s support. This aligns perfectly with our forum’s vision for a transformative and relevant higher education sector in Uganda.”

The Uganda Vice Chancellors’ Forum continues to foster collaboration among its member universities to enhance the quality and impact of higher education across the nation.
