The 13th Annual Conference and Silver Jubilee (25th Anniversary) Celebration of the Uganda Vice Chancellors’ Forum (UVCF) marked a historic milestone, celebrating twenty-five years of advancing collaboration, leadership, and excellence in higher education in Uganda. The event brought together Vice Chancellors, policymakers, development partners, researchers, and higher education stakeholders to reflect on UVCF’s remarkable journey, celebrate its achievements, and chart a strategic vision for the future of higher education. Through thought-provoking keynote addresses, panel discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions, participants explored emerging trends, opportunities, and challenges shaping the sector while reaffirming UVCF’s vital role in promoting quality, innovation, and institutional cooperation.

 A key highlight was the launch of the UVCF Silver Jubilee Magazine, documenting the Forum’s legacy, milestones, and contributions to the transformation of higher education over the past quarter century. The celebrations concluded with a commemorative gala that honoured the visionary leaders, partners, and institutions whose dedication has strengthened UVCF since its establishment. 

The success of the anniversary was made possible through the generous support of valued partners, including RENU, Stanbic Bank, Kampala International University, National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), RUFORUM, UBTEB, and UVCF member universities, together with the unwavering commitment of the organizing committee, volunteers, speakers, participants, and media partners. More than a celebration of past achievements, the Silver Jubilee reaffirmed UVCF’s enduring commitment to strengthening higher education, fostering strategic partnerships, and shaping a resilient and globally competitive university sector for generations to come.

The Universities resolved to:

1. Strengthen Quality Assurance: Establish internal mechanisms to meet NCHE standards through regular academic, faculty, and administrative assessments.
2. Promote Collaboration: Share resources, expertise, and facilities across public and private universities to cut costs and expand academic offerings.
3. Enhance Digital Learning: Invest in tech infrastructure, engage RENU, and adopt LMS/online courses to make learning more flexible and accessible.
4. Diversify Funding: Reduce government reliance by leveraging alumni, industry partnerships, and endowment funds for financial sustainability.
5. Prioritize Inclusivity: Implement policies to address gender disparities, support low-income students, and foster a diverse campus environment.
6. Transparent Governance: Maintain stakeholder trust and accountability through clear financial reporting, ethical decision-making, and collaborative choices.
