About Us
The Uganda Vice Chancellors’ Forum (UVCF) is the apex body that brings together Vice Chancellors and Heads of recognized universities and other degree-awarding institutions in Uganda. Constituted in 1997, the Forum was established by visionary leaders in higher education who recognized the importance of having a united voice to address common challenges, share experiences, and collectively contribute to the development of the higher education sector in Uganda.
Over the years, UVCF has grown into a respected platform for collaboration, dialogue, and advocacy, serving as a bridge between higher education institutions, government agencies, development partners, industry, and other stakeholders. The Forum promotes the exchange of knowledge, information, best practices, and innovations that strengthen institutional capacity and enhance the quality of teaching, learning, research, and community engagement.
As a key stakeholder in Uganda’s higher education ecosystem, UVCF advises government and regulatory bodies on policies and initiatives that affect universities and tertiary education. The Forum actively contributes to national discussions on education, research, technology, skills development, quality assurance, governance, and other matters critical to the advancement of higher education.
Membership of the Forum comprises Universities and other-degree-awarding institutions in Uganda. Representatives from the Ministry of Education and Sports and the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) participate as observers, ensuring constructive engagement between institutions and regulatory authorities. The Forum may also grant observer status to other individuals or organizations whose participation contributes to the achievement of its objectives.
UVCF is committed to promoting excellence, innovation, and sustainable development within the higher education sector. Through conferences, workshops, research initiatives, policy dialogues, publications, consultancy services, and collaborative projects, the Forum supports institutions in responding to emerging challenges and opportunities in an increasingly dynamic global environment.
The Forum welcomes strategic collaborations and partnerships with local and international organizations, development partners, academic institutions, industry, and government agencies. Such partnerships are essential in advancing research, capacity building, student and staff development, technology transfer, innovation, and knowledge exchange for the benefit of Uganda and the wider region.
Today, UVCF continues to serve as a trusted voice and catalyst for transformation in higher education, fostering cooperation among institutions and championing initiatives that contribute to national development, regional integration, and global competitiveness.
