Financial Managers’ Workshop on Enhancing Financial Management and Resource Mobilization in Higher Education Institutions. The Uganda Vice Chancellors’ Forum (UVCF) Secretariat successfully convened a national workshop on Enhancing Financial Management and Resource Mobilization in Higher Education Institutions on 25th April 2025. The workshop brought together financial managers, administrators, and higher education practitioners from universities across Uganda to explore strategies for strengthening financial sustainability, governance, and institutional resilience.
The workshop was officially opened by the Executive Director of UVCF, Prof. Eriabu Lugujjo, who emphasized the critical role of sound financial management and innovative resource mobilization in advancing the sustainability and competitiveness of higher education institutions.
Key presentations included Financial Management in Higher Education Institutions by Mr. Paul Mark Kayongo, who highlighted principles of accountability, transparency, and governance; Financial Sustainability and Risk Management by Mr. Peter Clinton Mutumba, focusing on strategic planning and institutional risk mitigation; and Technology in Financial Management by Mr. Paul Mulema, who demonstrated the transformative role of digital technologies in enhancing financial efficiency and accountability. The workshop also featured a presentation on Cybersecurity in Financial Systems by Mr. William Kibirango of RENU, emphasizing the importance of securing digital financial infrastructure and institutional data.
The workshop concluded with the development of key recommendations to inform policy and institutional practice. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening financial stewardship, embracing innovation, and enhancing resource mobilization strategies within Uganda’s higher education sector. Certificates of recognition were awarded to all participants in appreciation of their active engagement and contribution.
