The Uganda Vice Chancellors’ Forum (UVCF) is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Uhuru Institute for Social Development TUI a company dedicated to advancing socio-economic transformation through collective wealth generation.
The MoU was officially signed on 21st January 2025 at the UVCF secretariat at Makerere university.
Prof. Eriabu Lugujjo, the Executive Director of UVCF, Suzanne Kwesiga and Ronald Balimunsi represented the Forum, while Mr. Okello Leonard, the Chief Executive Officer, and Mr. Gabriel Kamuge represented TUI.
This strategic partnership recognizes the shared commitment of UVCF and TUI to fostering networking, collaboration, knowledge sharing, best practices, and the professional and institutional development of higher education institutions in Uganda. The partnership also focuses on enhancing the quality and scope of cooperative education and training.
Under this MoU, UVCF and TUI will work together to implement the following cooperative development initiatives:
1. Promotion of the SkillCoop Graduate Apprentice (SGA) Programme – Aimed at equipping graduates with practical skills for the job market.
2. Increasing Awareness and Accessibility of SGA Opportunities – Facilitating the circulation and promotion of SGA opportunities to member institutions.
3. Establishing a Platform for Continued Engagement – Organizing quarterly meetings to strengthen collaboration and align activities.
4. Development and Distribution of Cooperative Educational Materials – Contributing to the creation and dissemination of resources that highlight cooperatives as sustainable business models.
5. Conducting Research, Public Dialogues, and Policy Debates – Engaging stakeholders to inform government policies that support cooperative development.
