Vice-Chancellor, Michel Lejeune, has lived and worked in Uganda for more than 40 years. Prof. Lejeune, as one of the original promoters of VUU was formerly Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Previously he was founding Vice-Chancellor of Uganda Martyrs University, where he managed to transform a dilapidated Teacher Training College at Nkozi into one of the best privately-run universities in Uganda today.

Previously he taught at various Ugandan institutions, including Makerere University, where in 1979 he set up an Institute of Medical Ethics and Law, which has now, unfortunately, disappeared from the academic radar. Prof. Lejeune returned to Europe in 1982 and taught at Dundee University, Louvain-la Neuve University, and Fribourg University in Switzerland before returning to Uganda in 1993 to set up UMU.

In 2006 he became Deputy Executive Director of the National Council for Higher Education in Uganda, where he was responsible for Quality Assurance in Uganda's Universities. He retired from the NCHE at the end of 2010 and was responsible for sourcing the seed capital to start VUU. Prof. Lejeune speaks French, English, German, Italian, Runyankore, and some Luganda.

Prof.  Maud KAMATENESI-MUGISHA (PhD)Professor of Medical Ethnobotany / FUNAS, Vice Chancellor of Bishop Stuart University has over 15 years of Institutions based Administrative experience, over 20 years in teaching and 14 years in research in the under listed Institutions and capacity.

She has published over 30 papers, 2 web based publications, 3 distance education books write up and has 4 manuscripts in preparation for publication and 12 unpublished reports.
She has won 12 international research awards and carried out 5 Consultancies with International Agencies.

Dr Mpezamihigo Mouhamad Vice Chancellor of Kampala International University. He has vast experience in both teaching, research and administration in higher institutions of learning. He was a deputy rector at Islamic University in Uganda before joining Kampala International University. More details: .






Professor Celestino Obua
Professor Celestino Obua                    .

Professor Celestino Obua is a Ugandan physician, pharmacologist, academic and academic administrator. He is the current Vice Chancellor of Mbarara University of Science and Technology. He assumed that position on Friday, 24 October 2014. Prior to that, he served as the Deputy Principal of Makerere University College of Health Sciences.

Dr. Obua served as Lecturer, Senior Lecturer and eventually as Associate Professor of Pharmacology at Makerere University School of Biomedical Sciences (MUSBS), a component of Makerere University College of Health Sciences (MUCHS). He also served as the Deputy Principal of MUCHS, under the Principal, Professor Nelson Ssewankambo. On Friday 24 October 2014, he was installed as the Vice Chancellor of Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), the second academic to serve in that position, after Professor Frederick Kayanja, who served from 1989 until 2014



Rev. Dr  John Senyonyi

Rev. Dr  John Senyonyi Vice Chancellor Uganda Christian University. He has worked at Uganda Christian University (UCU) since 2001, first as University Chaplain, then Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration, and then Deputy Vice Chancellor for Development and External Relations (a new post which he founded).  In September, 2010 he was appointed as the second Vice Chancellor of Uganda Christian University.

Dr. Senyonyi holds a a Master of Arts degree in Evangelism and Theology from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Trinity International University, USA (1992), a PhD in Mathematical Statistics from the University of Melbourne, Australia (1984), and a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Nairobi (1978).

He is happily married to Ruth Senyonyi, one of the first professional Counselling Psychologists in Uganda.  They have four children.
